Ken Harvey, President and CEO, JAKA Consulting Group
Ken Harvey is the President and CEO of JAKA Consulting Group. A former student at the University of California Berkeley, Ken was drafted to NFL in 1988 in the first round. After 11 years of dominating American football in the National Football League (NFL) and achieving the status of being elected as one of the seventy greatest players of the Washington Redskins, Ken Harvey strove for new heights. He began to write his post-football chapter as a children's books author, co-owner of a production company, in addition to his work as a media personality, motivational speaker, and later the president of the Washington Redskins Alumni chapter. During his tenure with the group, he helped raise millions of dollars for underprivileged children. Ken recently has been assigned the postion of Director of Responsibility for the Washington Redskins.
Ken exemplifies creativity and out-of-the-box thinking as he channels his energies as CEO and President of JAKA Consulting Group, a government relations, business development and strategic alliances company. He is a firm believer in cultivating one’s gifts and resources as a platform to attain greater heights.
Ken is currently a member of the NFL Players Association, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance, and several leadership groups. He authors a monthly newsletter in which he combines his knowledge of sports and business to correlate the similarities and chronicle his own Journey After Knowledge = Action (JAKA).
Ken has worked with WashingtonPost.com and Comcast Sportsnet as a commentator. Some of the other organizations his company has worked with include Marriott International Inc., National Defense University, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Space Adventures, and Richard Garriott, the sixth private citizen to go to space. One of the main focuses for Ken’s company is to use a trademarked process they've developed called 'Sportilization' as a tool to create new business venues.
Allen Herbert, Vice President, JAKA Consulting Group
Allen is a graduate of University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aero-space Engineering, and a Government Relations/Business Development executive with 20+ years experience in business development, strategic planning, international business and technology projects. Prior to joining JAKA, Mr. Herbert worked for Computer Associates, at that time a $6.8B dollar multinational corporation with 17,000 employees. During his tenure, he started the government affairs area , where he was the liaison with the White House and the US Congress. He created strategic plans and capture strategy for Federal appropriations, most recently in areas of DOD, HHS, Homeland Security and IT programs.
He has lived and worked in Southern Africa for 2.5 years while being a part of 2 BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) companies in South Africa. There, Allen owned an investment real-estate firm in South Africa to take advantage of the burgeoning tourist industry in the Southern Cape.
As head of the African Electrification Foundation in the early 1990’s, Mr. Herbert was part of the first official trade mission sent to South Africa after the release of Nelson Mandela. This mission was initiated by President Bill Clinton and led by the late Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown.
Allen works with some of JAKA’s major clients and partners such as Marriot International Inc., Comcast Sports net, Space Adventures, Zero Gravity Corporation and the Challenger Center for Space Science Education.
Allen joins JAKA Consulting Group as a consummate industry professional with experience in creating partnerships with small and medium sized businesses.
